If you’ve been following our blog, then you’d know that this video has been in the planning stages for quite a while. We had the footage, but never the time to put it all together. Hope it was worth the wait.

The footage is from the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum’s Raptor Free Flight program. Featuring the Ferruginous Hawk. Music by Kevin MacLeod.

Footage captured at Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum with Casio EX-FH20 in slow motion (210 fps). At first a female Cardinal tries to pick up a Barrel Cactus fruit that’s larger than her head, but something spooks her away. A male gives it a go, but even though he’s persistent, the cactus fruit is pretty much intact when he finally gives up. Music by Kevin MacLeod.

The first video for 2011. This male Broadbill hummingbird was filmed at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum’s Hummingbird Exhibit. His bright colors and flight antics make this a short and cute little video.

The focus was on flowers. These were the images loaded daily over the past week. You’ll notice that 1 of the 7 is from our notecard selection. We’ll be continuing the picture a day on Facebook throughout February. With the occasional non-themed video thrown in for good measure. The theme for Feb. 2-7 will be the Sky. On Feb. 7, we’ll post the weekly collection here on our blog. Have fun and enjoy our photography.
